'Noobs' Guide to Dual Boxing.

Ok, originally I never tried to multi-box (read dual box). However I found you can try it out for a free, and if it meets your tastes, say hi to a bunch of high level alts.
Here's a step by step guide.

1. Register for recruit a friend (RAF) on your account management page, ensure you use the same e-mail and surname for your new RAF trial account. This ensures what when they hit the level you want, you can transfer the char to your main account, cutting your costs at the end. If you level two of the same class, this enables you to give the character once finished to an account of the same surname, I msyelf will be giving the a mage to my brother as a reward for power levelling mine

2. Download hotkeynet from hotkeynet.com. Unzip it to a file on your desktop. The file you click to open hotkeynet is 'hotkeynet' and is labled as an application under file type.

3. Open notepad, paste the following script into it and save. The only things you will have to change is the bits I have highlighted in bold to suit your comps settings.

4. Open hotkeynet, click load script and load the notepad file.

5. Click 'hide window' in hotkeynet. Then press Ctrl+Alt+R. This will load up two sets of wow, with one being smaller in the bottom right. This saves alt-tabbing and will mean less chance of dc'ing. Make sure to put all settings to a minimum, because if you have a comp like mine, you'll need to...

6. You use scroll lock to toggle key stroke crossovers (between the screens) off and on. This will stop characters in WoW2 opening up maps, character windows, achievement pages while you're trying to type a message to someone! I've added script to enable the use of the number pad as that seems to be a common question on their site.

7. Make some macro's. On your second character make a /follow macro that is bound to a key. For each new offensive spell you get on char2, make sure the same spell is on the same key as char1. eg. make sure frostbolt is assigned to '1' on char1&2 so they both cast frostbolt at the same time. For each spell on char2, open the macro pane and click the question mark. This auto finds the graphic based on the spell you put in the macro. Then type:

/assist [enter name of char1 here]
/cast Frostbolt

You don't need to do this for spells like frost nova, arcane explosion. I also recommend making sure you have auto-self cast enabled in the interface options for buffs like arcane intellect/frost armor. New to multi-boxing, I'd recommend mages to start with otherwise you'll overcomplicate things as you're trying to get a feel for boxing.

8. If you have any questions, go to their website. I'm simply a user that loved the program and it's simplicity and want to share the experience. I had problems with entering the right numbers for my screen resolution to the enable the "window inside a window" effect but that was it.

9. Lv these toons to lv10 with kill quests, then get a friend/family members to take you to rfc. Stand by and let them kill the instance in front of you and gawp at how many levels you climb in one clear.
